On Friday (August 8), the US dollar against the Canadian dollar price last week made a breakthrough in the box structure formed in July. Under pressure from the monthly downward trend line, the price quickly fell back after breaking through. At the weekly level, the US dollar against the Canadian dollar briefly broke through the box formed in many weeks last week, but failed to break through the downward trend in 2025. Prices then pulled back, and the August opening range is currently forming below this key diagonal. The focus is whether this decline is a market reversal, a subsequent decline, or is it just a test of the resistance level for breaking through. The long and short areas on the US dollar Canadian dollar weekly technical chart have been defined, and Canadian employment data and US CPI are about to usher in.

Technical Outlook: From a trading perspective, this is an area where long positions need to be reduced, and protective stop loss should be defined. If the price continues to rise, the stop loss can be placed below 1.3733 and the closing needs to break through the downward trend line since March to drive the next major rise. "The US dollar against the Canadian dollar briefly broke through the resistance level last week, but failed to close above the market, and the price fell more than 1.1% from its multi-month high.

This week's decline is testing the dense landing point of the weekly line, which constitutes the opening price and closing price, and we need to observe the reaction of the price here. Note that this price area is a intensive trading area around the weekly opening price, and observe the breakthrough situation here.

The resistance area of focus is 1.3815~35, which is the overlapping area of the 61.8% retracement point of the June total increase and the 23.6% rebound position after the overall decline in several years. Note that the monthly trend line also converges in this area this week, closing likeIf you can break through this line, it means that a more important low point has been formed and a large trend reversal can be expected. The subsequent resistance targets look to the 2022 trend line (currently close to about 1.3910) and the 52-week moving average, close to about 1.3958. This is a relatively important price point.

The US dollar against the Canadian dollar was suppressed by the monthly downward trend line last week, and the consolidation area formed by the August opening price was running below the downward trend line. From a trading perspective, the current focus is on the breakthrough in the 1.3733-1.3835 range, and below channel resistance, the overall upward trend in June remains fragile. If you want the price to continue to rise, the weekly low cannot be broken.
