On Thursday, the New Zealand dollar (NZD) continued to be under pressure, with the New Zealand dollar/USD sliding to 0.5980 as the US dollar continued its uptrend. The pair fell below the 20-day simple moving average (SMA) of 0.6012 and the lower edge of the rising wedge pattern, a trend that indicates that bullish momentum has weakened. Price trends now reflect increased downward pressure, with traders responding to eouu.cnparative signals from the two economies.

The latest policy update of the Federal Reserve conveys a more hawkish tone than market expectations. Although interest rates remain unchanged, the central bank raised its inflation forecast and suggested two rate cuts could be made this year.

This change, coupled with Fed Chairman Jerome Powell's cautious remarks on inflation and geopolitical risks, further consolidated the strength of the dollar, making it difficult for risk-sensitive currencies like the New York dollar to find support.

At the same time, New Zealand's recent economic data has not inspired confidence. Consumer inflation was lower than expected, prompting the market to lower expectations for the Reserve Bank of New Zealand to tighten its policies. Some participants have even begun to consider the possibility of rate cuts if domestic growth continues to be weak. Additionally, the latest dairy auctions show prices falling again, which has hit a key export industry in the country.

The prospects are further eouu.cnplicated by local political challenges. The government faces criticism over housing affordability and public sector eouu.cnpensation disputes, which have put pressure on domestic sentiment. In the absence of positive catalysts in the outlook, the NZD is exposed to external pressure and the weakening of investor interest in risk.

The technical analysis signal of the NZD/USD shows that there may be a bearish reversal

In terms of technology, the NZD/USD has broken through the key support level.Strengthens bearish bias. The formation of the SMA and the rising wedge below the 20-day period confirmed the reversal of the upward trend. The previous support range of 0.6012 is now used as a preliminary resistance.

If it rebounds above this level, focus on 0.6060, which is consistent with the previous wedge top and recent highs.

Downward, the pair is testing the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement level of the April-June rebound, near 0.5953. If the closing below this level, it may open up space to 0.5850, which was supported during the April consolidation period. Going further down, focus on the deeper retracement range, close to 0.5736, which is consistent with the low in early April.

Momentum indicator also points to the downward trend. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) has fallen below the neutral 50 line and continues to move south, but has not yet entered the oversold area. If it continues to fall below 45, it will indicate that the downward pressure is increasing.
