Spot gold hit a weekly low of $3,366.25 on Tuesday, and then rebounded in the U.S. session. The US dollar (USD) was weak in the first half of the day, but remained at familiar levels as market participants waited for U.S. macroeconomic data while remaining cautious in the Middle East crisis.
The U.S. announced a monthly retail sales rate in May fell by 0.9%, down from -0.1% in April and -0.7% expected. In addition, industrial production fell by 0.2% during the same period, while expected growth of 0.1%. Finally, capacity utilization was 77.4%, down from 77.7% in April and not meeting the expected 77.7%.

XAU/USD Short-term Technology Outlook
XAU/USD trades in the $3,380 area, and the daily chart shows it fluctuating in a narrow range. The pair lost positive momentum, but overall risk was skewed upward as technical indicators were already flattening above the midline. Additionally, XAU/USD develops above all moving averages, with the 20-day simple moving average (SMA) partially losing its bullish power, but still far above the bullish 100-day and 200-day SMAs.
In the short term, according to the 4-hour chart, there is still room for gold prices to slow down further. The pair traded below its 20-day SMA, limiting an increase of approximately $3,406.90. The 100-day and 200-day SMA remained undirected below the current level, while the technical indicators were down within the negative level. However, a risk aversion environment may prevent the pair from falling further.
