The New York/USD pair hovered around the 0.5900 level after giving up early gains in Wednesday trading. The pair is still under moderate pressure, but shows signs of stability as the price move consolidates near the lower end of the intraday range. The NZD's performance is sluggish as the dollar struggles in all aspects, affected by new speculation about the US's deliberate weakening of the dollar's strategy and signs of cooling down in inflation trends.

The focus of market attention remains that the Trump administration may support a broader narrative of the weaker dollar as part of its push for trade restructuring. Negotiations on foreign exchange policy between U.S. and South Korean officials triggered a wave of dollar selling, putting pressure on the dollar. The U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) annualized rate fell to 2.3%, the lowest level since February 2021, which also increased expectations for interest rate cuts. Although the Fed is expected to remain unchanged in the near term, the swap market is still pricing a 75 basis point rate cut in the next year, down from last week's 125 basis points.

At the same time, New Zealand's economic outlook is blurred by expectations that the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) may turn dovishly. Analysts generally expect RBNZ to lower its official cash rate (OCR) at the next policy meeting, citing weak domestic growth prospects. There is no major data in New Zealand this week, and the price trend of the New Zealand dollar is mainly driven by external developments, especially the changes in sentiment around the US dollar.

Technical Analysis

Technically, the New York dollar/USD currency pair is trading close to its daily low of 0.5896, in the wider range between 0.5884 and 0.5969. Relative strength index(RSI) is located in the neutral region of 50, while the moving average convergence/divergence (MACD) is still in the negative region, showing lower action energy. However, long and short forces are close to the neutral line, suggesting potential buying conditions. Random Relative Strength Index (Random RSI) - Fast also reflects the neutral posture. Although the 20-day simple moving average (SMA) points to a persistent bearish bearish, the 100-day and 200-day simple moving average (SMA) are consistent with the bullish bias and are supported by the 30-day index moving average (EMA) and the 30-day simple moving average (SMA). Immediate support is at 0.5884, 0.5885 and 0.5885, while resistance is at 0.5908, 0.5920 and 0.5928. As multiple long-term technical indicators signal upside potential and the pair trades in key support areas, the NZD/USD maintains a slight bullish bias, provided the overall weakness of the US dollar continues.
